Route 66 Maps + Navigation is a better GPS navigation application as it makes use of augmented reality, allowing your phone’s or tablet’s camera to capture the road, and superimposes a “virtual” car on top of it, making it much easier for you to follow.
You can simply watch the virtual car make turns in advance, so you’ll know where to turn. This is much better than any conventional GPS navigation apps, which usually read out where to turn, but will be quite confusing if you’re somewhere having a lot of exits.
While it seems very useful, but needing a driver to always keep an eye on the AR display will be a major distraction to the driver’s focus on the road. Chances are he or she might not notice the car right in front and may cause an accident. But since it uses augmented reality, road obstacles should also be displayed on the screen; thus the driver should be able to avoid those obstacles. Anyway, watch a clip below showing how the use of the Route 66 Maps + Navigation app allows a guy to reach his destination much faster than his friend does.
