True Energy has developed a special fridge called the Vaccine Refrigerator, which is able to keep cool without any power. The fridge is meant for keeping medicines, which is useful for rural third world countries, where power failure are common problems.
The True Energy vaccine refrigerator is able to store medicine worth of US$30,000 below 10C (50F) in a 43C (109F) ambient temperature for up to 10 days without the need of power. This special fridge can run off main source, solar power or a combination of the two. It can be powered by the main source for just five hours per day. Once fully charged it’ll be able to keep cool without the supply of power for 10 days.
The fridge has built-in intelligence for adjusting the temperature automatically to maintain a constant stabilized temperature while some warmer items have been added. True Energy Vaccine Refrigerators are currently in use by agencies such as the World Health Organization and Unicef. But chances are that this special fridge will be used at commercial places including commercial fridges, drink coolers, air conditioners and Telco infrastructure cooling.
