HTC has refreshed its entry-level phone by having announced the HTC Wildfire S which now comes with Android 2.4 or Gingerbread. The handset has been modified for its form factor, losing some bulk of its predecessor as well as the optical pad. It’s also been given a new HVGA display that allows it to be compatible with apps in the Android market.
the HTC Wildfire S shows close similarity to its predecessor. The handset was described as an “evolutionary” update, in the effort to maintain low price point. So, there are no common features found on today’s smartphones such as the support of NFC or a front-facing camera.
The handset packs a relatively slow 600MHz Qualcomm single-core processor, along with 512MB ROM and RAM. It also supports WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and has a rear camera of 5 megapixel with auto-focus and flash. The HTC Wildfire S should be reaching the stores sometime in Q2 2011, though pricing is unavailable.
