HTC launches HTC Salsa and ChaCha, the Facebook-oriented smartphones

HTC has launched two new Facebook-oriented smartphones, known as the HTC Salsa and ChaCha at MWC. The specialty of the two HTC phones is they come with a dedicated button for Facebook. Although they’re not yet officially qualified as Facebook phones, but the dedicated button allows users to have quick access to their Facebook page and receive social updates by just having a click.

The Facebook button on the HTC Salsa and ChaCha is context-aware, gently pulsing with light while there is an opportunity to share contents or updates through Facebook. The users will just need a single press on the Facebook button to update their status, upload photos, share websites and even songs that they’re listening to.

The two HTC smartphones also let users easily take their own photos and upload to Facebook instantly by pressing the Facebook button. These two phones come with Android 2.4 OS, which is basically a version that is mildly revised from the Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Hardware wise, the HTC Salsa has a 3.4-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera, and a VGA front-facing camera for video calls on the move. The HTC ChaCha packs a full physical QWERTY, a 2.6-inch 480×320 touchscreen display and a 5-megapixel camera. Both phones are only powered by modest 600MHz processors. Currently, no prices have been mentioned for these two phones but expected to be sharp.
