A new Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet has been announced at MWC 2011. It’s called Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 instead of Samsung Galaxy Tab II. As what its name suggests, the device packs a 10.1-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by a Tegra 2 processor. This 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet also runs the Android 3.0 HoneyComb OS, which has been designed specially for tablets.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a rear camera of 8 megapixels and a front-facing camera of 2 megapixels. It also has the capability of full HD video playback.
The entire tablet measures 246.2 x 170.4 x 10.9 mm and weighs 599 grams which is apparently smaller than the iPad and weighs 181g less than WiFi iPad. The device also packs a number of sensors including gyro, accelerometer, compass and proximity sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is expected to be launched sometime in March but the price has not yet been announced yet. But Samsung promises to be competitive in pricing which could be somewhere around the iPad’s price range or cheaper. Clip below shows it in action.
