HP has also jumped on the same bandwagon of making smartphones by having unveiled two new smartphones called the HP Pre 3 and HP Veer which run webOS 2.2. This should be the result of HP having acquired Palm for $1.2 billion. The HP Pre 3 smartphone comes equipped with a 3.6-inch display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels and a slide-out QWERTY.
The HP Pre 3 also packs a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus and a front-facing 1.3MP camera for video calls. It’s powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8×55 CPU, and has 512MB of RAM. There are two versions of the HP Pre 3 which are a version meant for the EVDO network and the other version is for the GSM and HSPA+ data connectivity. The internal storage is also offered in two flavors, 8GB and 16GB of flash memory and a 1,230mAH battery. The entire handset weighs 156 grams and measures 0.63 inches thickness.

The HP Veer also runs webOS 2.2 but packs a smaller display of 2.6-inches 320×400 pixels resolution. Apparently, the HP Veer is a lower-end handset other than the smaller display, it has only an 800GHz Qualcomm 7230 snapdragon and a fixed focus 5MP camera. It’s also a much smaller handset which comes in the size of a credit card only and weights 100 grams.
The HP Veer offers HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and an internal storage of 8GB but there is no way for expansion via microSD card. The HP Veer offers only a quad-band GSM version and is slated to be out this Spring, while the HP Pre 3 is expected to be available sometime in Summer. No prices have been announced for both HP phones.
