Small doesn’t mean lacking capabilities. ST-Ericsson will be launching the world’s smallest GPS receiver called the CG1950 but is claimed to provide much better positioning system for mobile devices. The tiny GPS receiver is able to see both American GPS and Russian GLONASS position satellites, making it more reliable and able to locate you much faster.
The ST-Ericsson CG1950 is a little receiver that will be available as a standalone component or can be integrated into ST-Ericsson complete cellular platforms. The CG1950 has an extremely low power consumption which is able to last up to 30 hours with a standard 850mAh, allowing it to last longer using its tracking service. The CG1950 is expected to be used in mobile devices by Q3 of 2011.
