SafeCell is the most expensive iPhone app, which is priced at $12,500 but it isn’t any app for you and me. Except, you’re super rich and own a private jet, the SafeCell will then come in handy allowing you to use your iPhone to connect to the on-board satellite computer in the plane via Bluetooth.
The SafeCell app has been developed by an Australian company called ASiQ. It also offers a number other versions of the SafeCell including versions for the iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian and Android devices etc.
Using SafeCell, it saves your pocket for having to install an expensive GSM system on the plane. A typical in-plane GSM system will weigh as much as 85kg and cost as much as $500K USD. The $12.5K price tag of the SafeCell definitely saves a lot while compared to having to install an in-plane GSM system.
If you get SafeCell before January 30, 2011, you’ll be able to get some freebies from the company, like a handsfree kit, free phone and noise-canceling headphones.
