OWC has announced a new bus-powered portable RAID storage solution known as the Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual mini. The device contains two 2.5-inch hard drives or OWC Mercury SSDs for up to 2TB of storage capacity.
There are 14 pre-configured RAID models for the Mercury Elite-AL Pro in either RAID 0 or RAID 1 configurations. As you know, RAID 0 “stripe” is meant for maximum data transfer speeds, while RAID 1 “mirrored” is meant for data redundancy and maximum protection of live data.

The Mercury Elite-AL Pro also offers a number of interfaces for easy connection and max data transfer speed at 300MB/s to Mac and PC, including a Quad Interface of FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0, and eSATA connections.

The Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual just comes in the size of a portable CD player which measures 5.6″ (D) x 6.1″ (W) x 1.1″ (H) and easily fits into any bags or laptop cases. It’s a bus-powered which requires no external power that makes it handy for on-the-go users.
As mentioned there are a number of pre-configured RAID models including RAID 1 with two 2.5-inch matched hard drives with a capacity of 1TB and RAID 0 with a total 2TB capacity for max read/write performance. And you can easily switch between the RAID configurations via the switch selector.
The Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual is now available from OWC in the 14 pre-configured HDD and SSD RAID models, starting at $180.
