Seagate announces 3.5-inch Barracuda Green desktop hard drive

You want a high-performance hard drive but you do not like the idea of it wasting too much power. Seagate has got the solution for you which has announced the industry’s highest performance eco-friendly 3.5-inch desktop hard drive, known as the Barracuda Green hard drive.

The Barracuda Green is suitable for lower-power personal computers, multi-drive home networking systems and external PC storage. The Barracuda Green offers a spin speed of 5900RPM, 64MB cache, a 6Gbps SATA interface and a storage capacity of 2TB.

The Green hard drive also features the Seagate’s SmartAlign technology to deliver best-in-class performance. This technology enables the all the benefits of the new 4K sector standard while simplifying drive installation by eliminating the need for utilities required to deliver optimum drive performance.

Other than the 2TB capacity, the Green hard drive is also offered in lower capacities such as 1.5TB and 1TB with lower 3Gbps interface and lower cache of 32MB. The 2TB drive is available on eCost for $119.
