Skype is not the only VOIP app for your iPhone, Viber is another VOIP application for the iPhone that allows you to make free calls to other Viber users around the globe. The app doesn’t need any in-app purchase, you can simply install and use it.
The Viber VOIP app allows you to make calls over WiFi and 3G and the app is able to run in the background and receive call when needed. Currently, the Viber VOIP app is still in its first version which comes with no ads or other costs involved.
There is also an Android version that will come weeks or months later, allowing you to make calls between devices. iPod Touch and iPad will also get their own versions, which is great as you can make calls as long as you’re connected to WiFi or 3G. The call quality seems acceptable and you may experience dropping if the 3G signal isn’t stable. Anyway, you can grab the Viber app from iTunes now.
