There have been a number of 3D TVs rolling out recently. Toshiba has also just added their new REGZA 3D TVs which should come as good options if you’re considering one for your home. The Toshiba’s new REGZA 3D TVs do not need you to wear 3D glasses, which is the common hassle of most 3D TVs in the market.
There are two versions of the Toshiba REGZA 3D TV which are a 20-inch and a smaller 12-inch model. Since these Toshiba 3D TVs require no glasses, they offer lots of conveniences for the users, especially those who wear prescription glasses.
The Toshiba glasses-free 3D TVs work pretty similar to what’s used in the Nintendo 3DS which 3D effect is created by a “perpendicular lenticular sheet” that has a series of lenses to direct light to nine points in front of the TV. As long as the user sits in the correct position, the brain is able to integrate all the points in a 3D image.
Therefore, for the 20-inch model, the users will need to view the screen at a distance of 90cm while smaller 12-inch model requires to be at a distance of 65cm.
The Toshiba 3D TVs have been shown at CEATEC and shall arrive in Japan in December at a cost of $1,450 for the 12-inch model, while the 20-inch will cost around double.
