
Sharp has announced an Android phone for the Japanese KDDI, called the IS03 which comes with a 9.6-megapixel camera and a display that has a resolution that matches the iPhone 4′s 960×640 Retina display. The Sharp IS03 is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. And its screen is a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 960×640 resolution which also supports the low-power mode allowing you to read status, missed calls and other info without the backlight on.
The Sharp IS03 packs a number of connectivity including EVDO Rev.A, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR , WiFi and Infrared. It is equipped with GPS, a 1Seg digital TV tuner and FM transmitter and also supports the KDDI’s mobile wallet e-payment system.
The handset has an internal memory of 512MB and is expandable via microSD card for up to 32GB. It also comes preloaded with a 2GB microSD card. The entire handset weighs 138grams and is available in white, black and orange. Currently, the IS03 handset is only intended for the Japanese KDDI and there is no indication whether it’ll be headed to Europe or US.
