
China has a number of variances of the Android OS. One of them is called the Tapas OS, a Chinese-centric Android OS. And Sharp has just readied two new handsets, known as SH828U and SH8118U which are based on the Tapas OS.
The Sharp SH828U handset is a 3G smartphone which is equipped with a 3.5-inch WVGA screen, a 5-megapixel camera with AF and Flash, microSD card slot, and is powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. It also has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. The Sharp SH828U will be available in China sometime in October for a price of $475 USD.
The other Sharp handset, SH8118U is powered by the same 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, comes with basic specs and has a 3.2-inch HVGA screen and will reach the China market for a price of $335 around the same time.
