There were rumors about a Zeus and Zeen printer and tablet combo but some product docs from HP have indicated that it’s the HP PhotoSmart eStation C510 printer. The HP C510 printer has made itself different from any other printers in the market by having a detachable 7-inch Android tablet as an option of its control panels. The Android tablet is called Zeen tablet which runs Android 2.1 and will have chance to be upgraded to Android 2.2 before its launch.
Having an Android tablet as its control panel allows the users to operate the printer just like operating a touchscreen tablet. The Zeen tablet has a capacitive touchscreen, an SD card slot and supports video. And it’s detachable from the HP printer so users will have an extra device to use while it’s not in use for operating the printer.
Currently, the custom UI and the TouchSmart skin of this tablet has been locked down leaving you with the Android web browser but with no access to Android apps and GMail but things could change before launch.
For the HP C510 printer itself, it’s a wireless ink jet printer, allows you to print, scan and copy and it also supports web-connected printing and of course you can print some e-books from the Zeen tablet. There are also social networking apps pre-loaded on the tablet including the ability to print your pictures right away from Facebook.
This HP Zeus and Zeen combo printer shall be available for sale from Sept 20th and will cost around $399 only.
