Sony has rolled out two new DSLRs, known as the SLT-A55V and SLT-A33, which are powered by something new called translucent mirror technology.
The translucent mirror technology is what provides better performance to these two DSLRs with super high speed of auto-focus. The two cameras are able to continuously and quickly focus while shooting pictures or recording full HD video – something that is not achievable with traditional DSLRs.
The two new models are able to deliver continuous phase detect AF during 10fps high-speed shooting and full HD movie recording. They’re all equipped with a translucent mirror, which allows light passing through the lens to be simultaneously received by the image sensor and the auto-focus sensor, thus achieving the super high speed of continuous focusing and shooting.
The cameras also feature continuous Advance Priority AE Mode, which is able to adjust for the best exposure automatically. Other goodies are Full-time Live View, supports of both Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card formats. The a55 and a33 cameras are priced at $750 and $650 respectively for the body only, and priced at $850 and $750 respectively with a 18-55mm zoom lens included.
