Smartbook has rolled out a new Android tablet in Germany, called the Surf. The device comes equipped with a 7-inch screen and runs the Google Android OS 2.1. The screen of this tablet is a touchscreen with a resolution of 800×480.
Under the hood, it packs a 720MHz CPU, 256MB DDR2 RAM, 2GB Flash NAND memory as internal storage and is expandable via microSD card slot. As the name of this device indicates, the SmartBook Surf is made to let you surf the Internet more, which it comes equipped with WiFi 802.11 b/g but unfortunately there is no mention about its support of wireless N or 3G connectivity that makes it little short as an Internet surfing tablet.
There are also two USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI interface that allows you to hook it up to HDTV. And of course, the Surf is capable of playback of video and supports various formats including AAC, EAAC, MP3, OOG, WAV as well as BMP, GIF, JPG and PNG. The Surf tablet comes in dimensions of 186mm x 115mm x 14.6mm, weighs 350g and is priced around $316 only.
