AT&T QR code scanner for Android and BlackBerry

QR code is the matrix barcode readable by QR code scanner and your smart phones. Now, AT&T have launched the QR code scanning application for Android and BlackBerry smart phones together with their Create-a-Code service.

The QR code scanning app is available free for Android and BlackBerry devices. The app is able to scan both 2D (QR and datamatrix) and 1D (UPC and EAN) barcodes. It’s now available on Android market and BlackBerry app world market or you can simply get from http://scan.mobi

The ATT QR code scanner app works similarly to other barcode scanners which allows you to use camera phone to focus in and scan the QR code. But it offers something more interesting, presenting you a menu that has link to the Create-a-Code service, allowing you to create your own QR code for your contacts or a web page.

To create a QR code, you have to sign up for a free account on AT&T website, which you’re allowed to create up to 5 QR codes, which each is set to last for a year. The QR code is downloadable as a PNG or EPS format.

You can create QR codes from AT&T website, print or stick them on your own products or business cards, which will then let the codes be scanned by users with smart phones and link the users to your websites for further information.
