Most e-book readers come with an e-ink display which the main reason is to allow the battery to be more lasting. Some come with dual screens, with both a color screen and an e-ink. But the GM2000 e-reader from Gemei will need you to decide what type of screen you’ll go for during your purchase, as it’s available in two models which the major difference is their screens – the first model has a 7-inch 800×480 color screen whereas the second model packs a 6-inch 800×600 e-ink display.
Apart from the screens, both models pack similar features, giving you option to output full HD video via HDMI cable and support of various video formats including H.263, H.264, VC-1, RMVB, MKV, and FLV. These e-book readers are able to handle text file formats including .TXT, PDF, UMD, CHM, EPUAB, as well as compressed ZIP files.
Both models have built-in 4GB memory and it’s expandable via memory card for up to 32GB. The Gemei GM2000 e-reader has been announced with a price of 780 Yuan or $120 only. Currently, there is no indication when it’ll be available in the States.
