Samsung announced A130, a fixed mobile convergence clamshell phone

Samsung has also announced their Fixed Mobile Convergence-enabled mobile phone in the Korea market. Called the Samsung A130, the handset comes in a clamshell form factor. It uses Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) technology to allow the users to make cheaper phone calls via WiFi while they’re in a hotspot. The handset also has a dedicated button that makes it easy to initiate a connection to a WiFi network.

The Samsung A130 packs a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 2-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth and of course the 3G and WIFi connectivity. The handset is also loaded with a number of useful applications including e-dictionary, web browser, media layer, SOS function, and a high-capacity phone book that holds up to 3,000 contacts.

The Samsung A130 will be headed to two leading Korea’s operators, SKT and KT, which will offer the A130 at a price of 455,400 won or $373. Currently, no indication if this Samsung FMC-enabled phone will reach the rest of the world.
