
Sonim has announced another rugged phone in its line. Called the Sonim XP3 Sentinel, the rugged handset is said to be specially designed for worker safety. The handset is able to survive a drop from 2 meters onto concrete and being submerged in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It also operates in a wide rage of temperatures from -20 to +55 Celsius.
The Sonim XP3 Sentinel has a Gollira glass screen and meets the military standard of MIL-810F, a certification for its resistance to heat, shock, salt and humidity.
The handset has also been designed to help workers to keep track of certain information of their work environments. Such as it features three buttons, which are meant for risk managements, come in green, amber and red.
The green button lets you keep track of the start and end times of your work sheet. The amber helps track your position while you’re into any risky situations. It tracks you on a map and gets you to report your your safety every ten minutes until the amber alert is deactivated. The red button even makes use of GPS technology to keep track of you and allows you to directly contact the monitoring center. It also sends your GPS location to the center every 3 minutes until the battery of the device drains out. The battery is good enough for 24 hours of operation on GPS.
