Some people might be carrying a portable ECG device on the run, so you can always keep an eye on your heart rate to be alerted if any early signs of heart problems. But now with a mobile phone, called the EPI life, you can also do the same as it comes with a built-in ECG reader.
The EPI Life is the first mobile phone built by Ephone, a Singapore company, which comes with the ECG recording capabilities. The handset has built-in electrocardiogram (ECG) measurement function which also links to a 24-hour health concierge service.
The handset requires only 30 seconds to complete a reading. Upon completion of the reading, you can send the result back to the service firm via GPRS which will then be analyzed by a team of 10 cardiologists. If any life threatening condition exists, they will initiate the appropriate responses through the call center including ambulance service, expedited patient admission into any of the three panel local hospitals or and on-call doctors.
The handset also allows you monitor glucose level, blood pressure, and even cholesterol by using the online folder called EPI Virtual Health Folder. Apparently it’s a handset specially made for those health-conscious or the city dwellers who lack of exercises and need to be aware of any of the mentioned health conditions. The service can even reach you globally, so it’ll also be a life saver even you’re frequent travelers.
The EPI Life handset will be in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong for a price of USD $357.32 (or S$498) and you need to pay for monthly subscription for the health concierge service. A basic plan costs USD $71.03 but limits you with 10 EGCs per month. The unlimited version costs USD $215.25 and comes with a free handset. No indication if the phone will go to US or Europe.
