
Samsung has announced a new Blu-ray disc combo, SH-B123, which comes with a 12X read performance for BD that is dubbed as the world’s fastest. The device is able to read BD-ROMs at up to 12X speed, CDs at up to 48X and DVDs at up to 16X.
The new Samsung internal Blu-ray drive allows you to watch HD movies on your PC as well as recording HD camcorder movies and broadcasting DVDs’ content to HDTV using the included Samsung’s Cyberlink Powerproducer software.
The device also features the Samsung’s Cyberlink Trutheater technology, which allows you to upscale the DVD movies to full HD quality. The device also uses two lenses and a two laser diode structure to ensure stable BD performance, including stable BD read, and DVD and CD read/ write performance.
Besides, the ACT (Spherical Abberation Compensation Technology) also improves the quality of read on BD drives which protective layer doesn’t have a uniform thickness. And PSCT (Precision Step Control Technology) optimizes position control for the optical pick-up feature that requires small track pitch of BD drives. This Samsung BD combo is also backed by Samsung’s Firmware Live Update to ensure it always gets the latest firmware update.
The Samsung SH-B123 Blu-ray combo comes in a tiny and light case which reduces internal heat, and also contributes to low CO2 emissions by improving loading efficiency. Unlike conventional ODDs, it’s been designed with an edgier look, featuring a chic mirror front door, blue LED and high-tech front bezel. It’s set to be available worldwide in July 2010.
