It was just last week Samsung announced their LED projector rated at 1,000 Lumens. And now NEC has shown off another brighter LED projector, dubbed as Sirius that should probably deserve the title of “brightest LED projector to date”, and is rated at 2,000 Lumens.
The Sirius LED projector uses three LEDs for its three light sources, red, blue and green. It’s still in its prototype stage and is able to display 98 percent of the Adobe RGB color gamut, which is much better than traditional projectors that are usually able to produce 60 percent of color gamut.
The biggest challenge while making this LED projector was adjusting the white balance and the temperature control. NEC isn’t yet satisfied with the current brightness level of this projector. They’re looking for something brighter that could go up to between 3,000 and 4,000 lumens or as bright as the current LCD projectors.
