The Microsoft Kinect technology has been introduced and demonstrated at E3 in LA by a company called Cirque du Soleil. The Kinect was previously known as Project Natal, which is a technology that makes use of a camera to capture color and depth information. And through this, it’ll be able to track the movement of the whole body.
The Microsoft Kinect is unlike other technologies that have been introduced by Sony or Nintendo, which purely track only the motion sensors. The demo of Kinect at the E3 was very impressive and they tried to convince the world of the Kinect concept: “the human is the ultimate controller evolution”.
The demos involved a number of games. Such as some sports game, which players have to run to win and dance game that looked like the Dance Dance Revolution but 10x better. And also the Star Wars game, which the player controls Jedi, including a light saber duel with Vader himself.
Microsoft claims the Kinect technology is better than Sony and Nintendo. As the technology detects the movement of the whole body, instead of only a sensor, making it to resonate much better.
