The Retina Display used on the new iPhone 4 was claimed to be better than the Samsung’s super AMOLED display by Steve Jobs. Jobs says the Retina Display of the iPhone 4 uses IPS LCD technology which offers much higher resolution and more vibrant colors, which can’t be replicated by the Samsung’s AMOLED diusplay.
Samsung has responded with their comments claiming that the AMOLED display is much better in terms of contrast ratio, color reproduction and response times while compared to the Retina Display of iPhone 4.
The first Samsung smart phone uses the super AMOLED display is the Samsung Galaxy S. If you simply compare the screen resolution pixel by pixel, the iPhone 4 offers a resolution of 960×640, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S offers a lower resolution of 800×480 pixels.
