Photofast, the company that is better known for its memory-related products, has announced the first camera for the iPad. This iPad camera is still in its prototype stage and should be ready later this year.
The company has presented a mock-up which used a Microsoft webcam connected to the dock port. But the final product will be very different from this. The camera is useful for video conferencing and taking snapshots using your iPad. Apparently, it’s a 2-megapixel camera; what is shown in the picture, 200-megapixel is definitely a typo.
This 2-megapixel iPad camera is limited to recording video at 640 x 480 resolution only. It’s also said to work with instant messaging apps on the iPad.
Photofast is also making some other iPad accessories including a TV-tuner that connects to the dock port of the iPad. And a CR-8200 iPhone/iPod/iPad dock, which allows the use of memory cards while docked and backing up of contacts to a memory card.

Hi, unfortunately we haven’t further from the photofast ipad camera, since Apple has rolled out the iPad 2 which packs two cameras. Chances are the photofast’s been dropped.
