The Pretec H220 Intellicable looks just like an ordinary USB cable but it claims to be able to turn any 3G handsets into USB modems. This special USB cable is able to fool most 3G handsets into believing they’re USB modems. The cable has a 1GB memory and is loaded with software that automatically sets all the communication handshakes to eliminate the hassle of having to setup network operator by the users.
The Intellicable is useful for users who occasionally need to access 3G network for Internet connection. It’s a better solution which you can make use of your 3G cell phone as a USB modem for your computer; thus you save your pocket from having to spend hundred over bucks for a USB 3G modem and signing up a 1 to 2 year data plan.
The Intellicable is one end having a Type-A USB for PC connectivity and the other end connects to mobile phones with either mini-USB or micro-B. The company claims the H220 Intellicable works with a number of handset models including RIM Blackberry, Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson.
Currently, there is no word about when this intelligent USB cable will reach the market. But it’s likely to reach the Asia and Europe markets first.
