The idea of bike-powered mobile phone charger isn’t new. There have been a number of attempts before but only now Nokia has turned it into a solid device ready for the market. The new phone accessory that has just been launched by Nokia is called the Nokia Bicycle Charger kit, which can make use of the generated electricity of you pedaling the bike to charge your mobile phone.
You’ll have to reach the speed at 6KM/h in order for the Nokia charger to kick in its function to start charging your phone. The kit also comes with a number of gears including a Nokia Bicycle Charger DC-14, Nokia Phone Holder for Bicycle CR-124, and a Bottle Dynamo.
The bike-powered charger is able to match the same efficiency of a normal charger while you’ve reached the speed of 12km/h. It can be fitted onto any Nokia handset with a 2mm charger jack such as the Nokia E72 and X6. This Nokia charger kit also lets you play music aloud from your cellphone, eliminates the need to wear headphones which usually block out road noise. Unfortunately, no price information has been announced but it’ll go on sale before end of 2010.
