The iPad can now work as a wireless secondary display for your Mac computers. This is made possible by using the Avataron’s app, Air Display, which allows the iPad to be used as an secondary display and connected to the Mac via WiFi.
The video data is transferred from the iPad to the Mac over the WiFi connection. You’ll have to first install a System Preference pane on the Mac desktop or laptop. The app even allows the iPad touchscreen to be used a mouse for your Mac, so you can click icons with your fingers on your iPad’s extended desktop.
Air Display app will be made available sometime next week on the Apple app store if everything goes as planned. The app will cost you $10 only a price that is significantly cheaper than any secondary displays. But transmitting video over WiFi might not work as smooth as a wired connection.
If the Air Display sounds little too expensive to you, you can have the iDisplay which also provides same functionality to turn your iPad into a WiFi secondary display, but costs only $5 and it’s already available on iTunes.
