
Seagate has released their latest portable hard drive, the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex, which comes with cables that allow it to connect to almost every interface, including USB 2.0, USB 3.0, FireWire 800 and eSATA.
The FreeAgent GoFlex portable HDD also promises up to 10 times of speeds in transferring large files and HD contents. This portable HDD is also able to pair with the Seagate Net Media sharing device, to let it work like a NAS, allowing your files to be shared across the network with your co-workers or family.
The FreeAgent GoFlex is housed in a glossy black casing, has dimensions of 112×82x14mm and weighs 160g (for the 500GB version). Seagate also includes the NTFS driver for Mac users, allowing you to use NTFS file system on Mac PC or Apple laptop, except Time Machine. So, the GoFlex portable hdd can be used on both a Windows PC and a Mac machine without having to format from one to another.
With all the flexible connections, these Seagate HDDs will come with relatively higher prices than competing products. The 5,400-RPM models are priced at $100, $140, $180 and $229 for the 320GB, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB respectively. Whereas the 7,200-RPM model offers two storage capacities, 500GB and 750GB and priced at $160 and $200 respectively.
