
Panasonic has upgraded their semi-rugged CF-52 notebook and business-rugged CF-T8 tablet-alternative notebook, which now come with increased processor speeds, memory and Gobi mobile technology.
The upgraded Toughbook CF-52 (pictured above) now packs the Intel’s Core i5 (up to 2.53GHz) processor, 2GB RAM and a 250GB shock-mounted hard disk drive with quick release. It also packs wireless connectivity including the Gobi mobile broadband from Qualcomm for connecting to 3G service. Other upgrades include A-GPS capabilities with better integration with mapping software, WiFi chipset, Bluetooth 2.1 and also the option to embed 4G or WiMax in the same unit.
The CF-52 is housed in a magnesium alloy case and has gone through stringent tests. It can be used in low-light conditions, the touchscreen model comes equipped with overhead keyboard light, allows the user to adjust brightness to suit the environment. The CF-52 is available in three configurations.

The other upgrade in the rugged series from Panasonic is the CF-T8 business-rugged tablet. The upgrades include Windows 7 OS, a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Processor with vPro technology (3MB L2 cache and 800MHz FSB) and a removable 250GB shock mounted flex-connect hard drive.
It also has Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi b/g/n and packs a battery that lasts up to 8 hours. It also packs the Gobi mobile technology that allows it to connect to any leading network operators virtually anywhere in the world.
The Toughbook CF-T8 has a 12.1 inch anti-glare XGA touchscreen LCD, it comes with a stylus, screen rotating software and convenient rubber hand strap for easy use. This rugged tablet suits walking workers such as healthcare sales or market research agents.
