LaCie has readied their USB 3.0 Rugged hard drive that offers both super high-speed data connection and ruggedness to protect your data from getting damaged caused by knocks or drops. The LaCie Rugged SuperSpeed HDD resembles an inflated life raft, it has rubber bumpers surrounding the aluminum drive that provides cushion that makes it drop-resistant up to 2.2m.
The LaCie rugged wears an orange sleeve as standard but you have choices to swap it for a green-grey, blue-grey or black, which each costs you $20. The LaCie Rugged is able to reach a top data transfer speed at 110MB/s. The drive is backward compatible with USB 2.0, if you haven’t had a USB 3.0-capable computer yet.
It comes with complete software bundle for easy formatting and backup, and it’s also backed by a 1-year 10GB Wuala secure online storage. The LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 HDD will be available in 500GB (7200 rpm) storage capacity for a price of $150.
