Jetyo has unveiled their solar-powered camcorder, HDV-T900, which has a solar panel at the back of its 3-inch LCD to absorb sunlight to recharge the four AA batteries.
Being able to harness solar energy to recharge the batteries, should make it handy to let you record videos for long hours. But the solar panel of this guy, seems to be an overly low-end unit that delivers current at 120mA. By some simple math, it’ll take about 25 hours to charge one 2,500mAh AA rechargeable battery. And there are four required by this camcorder.
So, it’s unlikely that the Jetyo HDV-T900 camcorder is able to pick up sufficient sunlight in your trip. Which means, you’ll need to leave it expose to sunlight for charging for up to four days in order to get full charge for the four batteries.
Other than that, the company hasn’t got any information on how long the four batteries can power the HDV-T900 camcorder. On the camcorder itself, it’s a 720p30 model that records to SDHC memory cards using a fixed-zoom lens. It has no optical zoom but promises 8x digital zoom. The camcorder has only 5-megapixel hardware resolution and a 12.0 megapixel resolution using software interpolation. It’s able to take night shots using white LED.
