Cypress hover detection lets touchscreen track your finger hovering over it

On a PC, you can have your mouse over an object, which will normally show you some tool tips or short info of what the object is about. The same can be applied on the screen of a smart phone or tablet, thanks to the Cypress hover detection that makes this possible, and it works in conjunction with TrueTouch, which allows your finger to hover over an object on the phone screen.

With the Cypress Hover detection system on a smart phone, the user can simply use their finger to hover above the screen of a phone and get some idea of what an icon or object is all about before having to touch it.

The Cypress hover detection system is compatible with TrueTouch capacitive touchscreen built by Cypress. One of the uses is the mentioned, which lets you get some info before having to touch an object. The other use is it can have a zoom bubble to follow your finger around, allowing you to zoom in to information you’re pointing at.

The system is expected to be available for manufacturers in next couple of months, which also means we’d start seeing this technology in tablets, smart phones and portable navigation devices by the end of this year. Watch the clip below on how it works.
