iPhone 4G aka iPhone HD prototype gets hands on

The prototype of the iPhone 4G or iPhone HD was spotted at the San Jose bar, and it’s even fallen in the hands of Gizmodo, where they’ve had their exclusive hands-on with the prototype of the next gen iPhone.

So, in their findings, the new features that aren’t found on the iPhone 3GS are: a front-facing camera, improved back camera which has lens noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS’, camera flash, using micro SIM instead of standard SIM, improved display with higher resolution than the iPhone 3GS’, a secondary mic next to headphone jack meant for noise canceling, split buttons for volume and power, mute and volume buttons are metallic.

While compared with the iPhone 3GS for the hardware, the iPhone 4G has the back entirely flat, a screen smaller than the iPhone 3GS but higher resolution. It has an aluminum border, with everything more squared off, 3 grams heavier than the iPhone 3GS and a 16% larger battery, which also means most of its internal components get shrunken to accommodate the larger battery.

About the OS: The person who found it said the phone was running iPhone OS 4.0 before the iPhone 4.0 announcement. But Apple had remotely killed the OS before it fell in the hands of Gizmodo. However, it’s recognized as an iPhone while connected to a computer, with the proper boot sequence and was to connect to the iTunes restore functionality. Apple has reported loss of an iPhone 4G prototype and wants it back. For more information, pictures and video, head over to Gizmodo to open your eyes.
