Nokia unveils C3, C6 and E5 QWERTY smart phones


Nokia has unveiled a trio of new smart phones, the Nokia C3, C6 and E5 phones, which come with a QWERTY and with two (C3 and E5) of them looking similar to the BlackBerry handsets. And the C6 features a slide-out QWERTY. Apparently, these three phones are targeted to users who love messaging, which follow the success steps of a few of Nokia’s earlier models, Nokia E71 and Nokia E63 and with tight integration with social networking sites.


The Nokia C3 smart phone is headed for a launch in Q2. It’s the first Series 40 device that comes with a QWERTY keyboard. The home screen of this phone is able to keep you updated with the messages and status of your friends on social networks and instant messaging and to see what’s happening around the world.

The Nokia C3 is a GSM smart phone that supports bands including 850/900/1800 and 1900MHz. It weighs 114 g, with a battery capacity of 1320mAh which is able to last up to 20 days on standby as well as providing 7 hours of talk time. The C3 packs a 2.4-inch QVGA screen with resolution of 320×240 pixels and supports up to 262k colors. The phone has an internal memory of 55MB, and is expandable via microSD card up to 8GB. It supports Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi b/g connectivity and expected to pay a price of 90 Euros before tax when launched.


The Nokia C6 packs a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen which supports resolution of 640×360, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and 16M colors. The phone runs Symbian OS and has a slide-out QWERTY. This phone also packs great Internet features and integration to Facebook, which allows you to view feeds of Facebook on its home screen.

The Nokia C6 features HSDPA/WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 and GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 for connectivity, along with Bluetooth and WiFi. The version of Symbian OS is S60 5.0. It weighs 150g, is equipped with a 1200mAh battery that provides 16 days of standby and 7 hours of talk time on GSM network and 3 hours only in 3G. The C6 has an internal memory of 200MB, is expandable via microSD card for up to 16GB. It’ll cost 220 Euros before tax and subsidies.


The last of the three, Nokia E5, packs both WCDMA and GSM radios, a 2.4-inch QVGA screen with resolution of 320×240 and 256K colors. The E5 weighs 126g and is equipped with an impressive battery that can last up to 29 days on standby, along with talk times of 18 hours 30 mins and 5 hrs 30 mins on GSM and 3G networks respectively. It has 250MB internal memory, expandable via microSD card for up to 32GB. It’s set to cost 180 Euros before tax and subsidies when launched in the 3rd quarter of this year.
