MyDitto NAS lets you easily share your contents in the office or at home, so while you’re on the run, you can access the content on your MyDitto server using an Internet-connected laptop or computer. The MyDitto doesn’t come with a CD or software nor it involves you with any complex setup. Instead, the MyDitto NAS comes with two USB keys, which actually work as the keys for you to access the files or contents on the MyDitto server via Internet.
Simply hook up one of the USB flash drives to your Internet-connected computer, you’ll be able to access and retrieve the files on your MyDitto server in your office or at home. But before the USB flash drive can work as a “key” on your computer, you must first connect it to the MyDitto NAS’ USB port, which it’ll activate the USB drive as a key.
The MyDitto NAS has a USB slot in the front, you just need to insert the USB flash drive into the USB slot, press the “Copy” button, and wait until MyDitto beeps twice, the USB drive will then be ready to insert into a Mac or PC to access the MyDitto NAS via the Internet. So once the USB key is connected to your computer, it’ll launch the MyDitto app which provides a simple two-list view for dragging files to and from your approved space on the remote myDitto server.
Please note that using your MyDitto USB key to access the server doesn’t need you to key in any URL. This allows less-technical users or any layman to use it with ease. The MyDittio also comes with an iPhone app, for those who wish to use their iPhone to access the remote MyDitto NAS. But the app requires you to key in a long hexadecimal “secret key”, which doesn’t go accordingly with the product’s focus on simplicity.
About the MyDitto NAS, it has two bays, is able to accommodate two 3.5-inch hard drives. It can create and authenticate 30 myDitto keys. Of course, to make the MyDitto NAS accessible over the Internet, you must first connect the NAS to a router. It’s a product of Dane Elec.
