The iDisplay is an application that lets your iPad or iPhone become the secondary monitor for your computer. The iDisplay has got the version for Mac OS X, while the Windows version is being developed.
The iDisplay actually comes in an extension which you need to install onto your Mac OS X. And this extension presents itself as a monitor to the underlying OS, which starts sending data through the extension to any attached device. The data is sent over via WiFi to an iPad or iPhone, which works as an secondary monitor for your computer.
It isn’t a one-way communication, your iPad or iPhone as the secondary display, can also be used as a multi-touch input to remotely control some light applications on the Mac or PC. Of course you can’t watch video on your secondary monitor (your iPhone/ or iPad) over the WiFi, you can only interact with slower apps such as IM, Twitter clients, news, weather gadgets and even Photoshop. The iDisplay costs only $5, you can get it from iTunes and try it out on your newly purchased iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
