EyeTV iPhone app streams live TV over 3G or WiFi

The Elgato’s EyeTV app for the iPhone or iPod Touch, has now been made available with the latest version 1.0.2, which allows your iPhone to stream live TV over WiFi or 3G connection. The newly added 3G live TV streaming capability makes it more convenient for your iPhone to watch TV almost everywhere you’re.

Using the iPhone EyeTV app, you’ll be able to do the followings:

* Watch live TV and change channels anywhere (via a Wi-Fi or 3G connection)
* Watch your EyeTV recordings
* Browse the comprehensive Program Guide and view details
* Start recordings back home on your Mac immediately or schedule them for later
* View and edit your recording schedules
* Automatically launch EyeTV on your Mac at home as needed

Basically the iPhone EyeTV app requires to work with your Mac at home that runs at least EyeTV 3.3.3 and has a compatible TV tuner. While you connect your iPhone to the Mac over a local WiFi, there is no configuration required. But when connecting via 3G or WiFi to a remote Mac, Elgato has a free locator utility, “My Eye TV”, that eases the process. Elgato also recommends you to use the Turbo.264 HD which enables “adaptive streaming” for the best picture possible under varying network speeds.

The EyeTV for iPhone 1.0.2 is available from the App Store at a price of $5 USD.
