Sharp has announced their latest 3D touchscreen LCD display that offers industry’s highest brightness and auto switching capability between the 2D and 3D mode. The newly announced Sharp 3D touchscreen LCD does not require you to wear 3D glasses and it comes in size of 3.4-inch, with FWVGA (480x854px) resolution, 500cd/m2 brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio.
The Sharp new 3D LCD touchscreen will be best used on the Nintendo 3DS game console which was earlier announced to provide glasses-free 3D game play. But there was no information what 3D display that the Nintendo console would use.
Currently, the Sharp new 3D LCD is not in mass production yet. Sharp plans to start mass production for the 2.4-inch 3D QVGA display first in the first half of fiscal year 2010. This hints that the Sharp LCD display will not be adopted by the Nintendo 3DS game console as it cannot be ready in time and some more the cost would be too high to use the Sharp 3D touch LCD on the 3DS.
