LG has announced their first 3D full LED TV, LG LX9500, which makes use of LEDs positioned behind the LCD to produce a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1 and translates into amazing 3D effects.
The LG LX9500 3D TVs are available in sizes between 47 inches to 55 inches and they come in smaller footrprint with a 0.63-inch bezel and 0.87-inch thickness. These LG 3D LED TVs have Internet access and they allow you to call your friends using Skype. Of course, to enjoy the 3D effect, you’ll need to wear the active shutter 3D glasses which are able to last up to 40 hours before needing to send them back to charge via USB connection.
The LG 3D LED TVs will first be launched in the company’s homeland, Korea, and they’ll be headed to North American and European markets sometime this May. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet but it’ll be announced closer to the release date.

These look set to be a pretty impressive set and if the 3D results are as good as what we’ve been seeing in the cinema’s recently then i can see it selling well (just look at avatar 3d sales to see how much people want to see 3D material).
It will be interesting to see how they compare to Samsung’s 3D sets which will be released slightly earlier.

Looks like a great piece of kit, can’t wait to see it here in the UK.
10,000,000:1 is a huge contrast ratio. Can’t really see 3D TVs becoming mainstream with the current active 3D glasses though – they’re just too expensive, especially if you have a family and need to buy a pair for each member.
I think consumers will start considering them seriously if manufacturers start building 3D TVs with the passive technology (with cheaper glasses) or 3D TVs which don’t need glasses, using technology similar to the Nintendo 3DS.
