World’s fastest book scanner

Here comes the world’s fastest scanner, which is currently just a prototype that has been developed by Professor Masatoshi Ishikawa and his team at University of Tokyo. The super fast scanner is able to scan a 200-page book in just a minute.

The scanner uses a super vision chip that reacts faster than the eyes can react. Its camera is able to capture frames at 1280 x 1024 resolutions and at a speed of 500 fps.

The scanning process clicks each page twice, once in regular light and once in laser light. The latter is meant for building 3D image of the page with the assistance from software. The research wish to make a miniature version of the super fast scanner and clam it on mobile phones. If this could come true, there would be no surprise that you could use your iPhone to scan books at the speed of 200 pages per minute. Watch the clip below for more information.

It is a nice tech gadget. If the price is right, I don’t mind to buy it.
