AwareFashion detects invisble wireless networks on the go

A number of accessories have been made to blend well with fashion for detecting wireless networks (or more specifically WiFi networks). And now the idea has been extended to making use of clothing, that would turn out to be much easier to detect wireless networks unnoticeably while you’re on the go.

AwareFashion, currently being developed by the team up of Richard Etter, Diana Grathwohl and Sigmund Homolya, is actually clothing that is able to detect any invisible wireless networks surrounding you.

The AwareFashion is to be made capable of detecting more than just WiFi. It’ll be able to detect radio waves, so it’ll cover WiFi, cellphone GSM signals, Bluetooth, GPS and even some other wireless systems and alert you about the presence of the wireless signals in your surrounding.

There is currently no real practical use. One of the possible uses, is for detecting WiFi and Bluetooth and cellphone signals, so you know where you should be headed to in order to get stronger signals to suit your need. Or it could be useful for the paranoids who’d want to stay away from all sort of radio waves that were deemed harmful to health.
