Samsung has announced two new models of their LED HDTVs, 7000 and 8000, which come with Skype software embedded and allow you to make video and voice calls via the TVs.
If a user doesn’t have a Skype account, he or she can create a free Skype account using the TV remote control. For those who have a Skype account, can then login into their account, and access various Skype functions on the Skype interface right on the TV’s screens. Skype video or voice calls between Skype users are free. Skype calls to landline or mobile phones will cost you only pennies per minute.
The Samsung Skype-enabled HDTVs are now available in Korea and will be made worldwide in the first half of this year. No information about the pricing at the moment.
TVs with Skype embedded should be pretty interesting for your home, you can make calls through the TV anytime to share with your pals the interesting channels that you’re watching.
