The 4th generation of iPhone would likely be the first OEM device to adopt the Samsung’s Super AMOLED display according to some rumors. But these are just rumors at the moment. Sources also hint that Apple still has some concerns over the power consumption of the iPhone 4G especially when used for web browsing and emailing.
The power consumption of OLED displays is dependent on content, so when the iPhone is used for emailing and web browsing that involve pretty heavy contents, Apple is worried that it’ll consume too much power. Suggestions are to use black background and white or blue letters for email to reduce power consumption.
If Apple was to opt for OLED display for their iPhone 4G, Samsung would be the best company that Apple could work with as they’re the only that is able to meet the volume required by Apple. And the two companies have had good partnership before. Interview of the CEO of Rapid Repair by I4U also believes that Apple to use Samsung’s Super AMOLED display in their iPhone 4G.
