HTC Legend gets official

The HTC Legend smart phone has been made official at the Mobile World Congress 2010. The Legend features a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with multitouch capability, dual-band UMTS/HSPA (900/1800) and housed in a single piece and seamless aluminum frame, which battery cover has apparently been made hidden to make it look more stylish and smooth. It is actually slightly smaller than the HTC Hero.

The HTC Legend runs Android 2.1 and with the new version of HTC Sense loaded, that augments the standard UIs on Android which allows the user to easily widgetize their desktop/homescreen for easy accesses to common applications.

The HTC Sense UI also features the Friend Stream, which is also a great app for connecting the user to various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. With the Friend Stream, user can easily receive streams of updates from various social media sites and organizing them into specific social circles such as groups of friends, colleagues etc.

The HTC Legend is powered by the 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 instead of the 1GHz Snapdragon. The traditional trackball seen on most HTC smart phones has now been replaced by an optical joystick. Other goodies include WiFi b/g, Bluetooth, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, and a microUSB port. But the Flash Lite 4 that the HTC Hero had has been omitted on the Legend.

The Legend is expected to arrive in Europe through Vodafone and other carriers. An unlocked version will arrive in April 2010 which will be widely available including Asia in early Q2 2010. No plans for US 3G version and no news on the pricing.
