Here comes a wearable robot which is great for the elderly and those who’re injured or disabled, which it allows a mobile person to represent the disabled/elderly in certain events or even shopping in the mall. The Wearable robot is essentially the telepresence of the disabled or elderly, which its has a robot camera worn by the mobile person, to capture and send the live video wirelessly back to the disabled or elderly at afar.
A person sitting at a stationary location is able to control the robotic camera’s movement wirelessly (via the Internet) and view the landscape of what the friend sees. The wearable robot can also be used for remotely instructing students through some complex tasks or processes, where the instructor can remotely tell the students what to do in a more easily visualizable manner.
The Wearable Robot is currently at the prototype stage, developed by researchers at Japan’s Tsumaki Telerobotics Laboratory at Yamagata University. It should have many great applications when it’s become available in the market.
