Utility and field service agents need rugged portable computers to speed up their daily tasks. The newly announced Panasonic Toughbook CF-H1 Mobile Assistant is a rugged portable computer that fits well in this category.
The Toughbook CF-H1 Mobile Assistant has been housed in a rugged case that can withstand drops and additional harsh conditions such as vibration, humidity, altitude, temperature extremes and thermal shock. Its seal is IP65 compliant for water, rain and dust-resistance.
The Panasonic CF-H1 packs an Intel Atom processor Z540 1.86GHz, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, an 64GB SSD, an 10.4 inch XGA LCD screen with dual touch capability and runs Windows 7 Pro but downgradable to Windows XP SP 3 if Windows 7 isn’t your choice. The device is lightweight and features an easy-to-grab handle that allows single-handed operation.

The screen allows you to see clearly even under any conditions. It offers Finger Print reader for the security. It also has Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and HSPA connectivity. The HSPA is definitely great, allows you to stay connected while you’re in remote areas. Optional features include 2-megapixel integrated webcam and 2D barcode reader.
The battery lasts up to 6 hours and it features twin battery design, which allows true hot swap in any location to allow the CF-H1 to last an entire shift between recharges. No info on the price and availability.
