The HoverCam X300 works differently from the flatbed scanners that you’re used to. It scans your documents from above, which will be best used for scanning receipts, business cards or hardcover books etc. While using a flatbed scanner to scan the aforementioned types of documents, you’ll normally face the hassles of having to lift the heavy lid of the flatbed and arrange those papers neatly before you scan.
The HoverCam X300 eliminates the problems you usually face with a flatbed, as it scans from above and takes a quality snapshot of the documents similar to what a camera does. The papers you need to scan need to be placed under the HoverCam and it’ll automatically rotate the scan so it’s square, and crop the image at the edges.
It can also stream its video output to a pico projector, making it to be used like an overhead projector. The HoverCam is USB powered, it features a 2-megapixel 150 dpi (1600 x 1200 resolution) scanner. Another advantage of the HoverCam scanner is it takes up less space than what a flatbed scanner does. It’s now available and costs only $140. The idea of this HoverCam is similar to the DIY Lego/milk scanner or iPhone document scanner that we’ve seen before.
